Haven't actually embarked yet but it says woodland...nevermind, it seems I accidentally deleted that world along with some other one's I generated.

A quick question.

Does the no-digging rule prevent the participants from building and using an obsidian factory without digging into the pregenerated soil?

P. S. I assume glassworking is fair game as well, am I right?

You're hoping for an open air magma pipe?

Most I have seen were open air. Why should I abandon hope? :-)

Okay found a heavily forested area in a evil ocean plus magma pipe. Should I embark at the area, save and upload for Scruga to play?

We're planning to make a WOODEN lighthouse out on the ocean, what are you going to use those stones and ores for?

Then I'm in. :-)

And just in case it's ok, I want a Stonecrafter/Gemsetter dwarf (he can also do gemcutting and possibly glassworking and trading, the rest is situational). From most of my games I have concluded that such a dwarf alone is enough to provide trade goods for the entire fortress while the remaining dwarves are working on something big.

The general idea is: produce obsidian, carve it into crafts, produce raw glass, cut it into gems, encrust goods with glass, rinse, repeat. Magma pipe + water = infinite source of obsidian, magma pipe + sand = infinite source of gems. Extra bonus: high-quality obsidian swords for the military.
