Actually, some points should be allocated to mining after all. We are planning an obsidian factory, and factory effectiveness is directly proportional to mining skill which cannot be trained in the traditional way (by digging) due to game restrictions.

Perhaps glassworker (3) / miner (3) / woodcrafter (4).

Of course, that's just my suggestions, it's up to the first player to decide the embarkation details.

But Lav i like your style please make one final list and we'll have demonic spoon put it together. Embark, upload, and let me write the first year's log.

I. Dwarves.

1. Stonecrafter (5) / Gem Cutter (0) / Gem Setter (5) / Appraiser (0).
2. Fisherdwarf (5) / Marksdwarf (5).
3. Fish Cleaner (2) / Cook (2) / Bone Carver (1) / Bowyer (5).
4. Woodcutter (2) / Axedwarf (5) / Carpenter (3) / Mechanic (0) / Architect (0) / Mason (0).
5. Carpenter (5) / Mechanic (0) / Architect (0) / Mason (0) / Marksdwarf (5).
6. Carpenter (5) / Mechanic (0) / Architect (0) / Mason (0) / Marksdwarf (5).
7. Glassworker (5) / Miner (3) / Woodcrafter (2) / Leatherworker (0).

Changes made: invested more heavily into Bowyer (better crossbows = better accuracy) and less into woodcrafter (to keep glassworking as a top skill for 7th dwarf for the possible strange mood).

II. Supplies.

1. 1 copper pick
2. 1 steel axe
3. 2 leather (for bags)
4. 18 bauxite (more than enough IMHO)
5. 168 units of booze (2 year supply)
6. 42 turtle (1 year supply)
7. 1 cat, 2 dogs (traditional)
8. Invest the remaining points into tower-caps.

SHORT Story.Because it doesn't have chapters and it contains dwarves.

Rit and his family where in their handmade cottage, when he hear A-knock knocking on his door. His soon Rat got up to open it when Rit stopped him.He got up and walked to the wall nearest the door and opened it up.He pulled a small plank of wood out of the wall and looked outside. There, on his porch was a Hunchbacked robed dwarf. Rit went over and opened the door. The man stumbled in and demanded food and board.Because he wore the purple of a noble they let him stay.
When the  family fell asleep that weekend, he bit young Rat and left.Young Rat changed into what had bit him, a werewolf, a being who had a gut wrenching hunger for flesh and a Unquenchable thirst for blood. He went to his parents room and attacked his mother Ret. He killed her and began to devour her, when he had stripped the flesh off of her bones he began to eat her very bones. Then his father awoke because of the gnashing and grinding of bones that his son made eating his mothers bones. He slowly grabbed the crossbow by his side of the bed and aimed it toward where the sounds where coming from.
He fired and the bolt went straight into the foul beings heart.Killing it.Rit was lucky...he could only afford silver bolts.

No anvil?(just making sure)
No digging = no ore = no metal bars until Autumn = we can buy anvil together with bars.

P. S. Looks like my dwarf will be nearly useless in the beginning. Perhaps make him a temporary accountant or just use as a secondary workforce.
