SoF have a massive FPS drop because of their insane temperature.  That is a lot of calculations to do.

It's pretty clear that these tentacle demons are Japanese Tentacle Rape Monsters.

in game play, sure.  visually?  not really.  i've got a picture of one from Toady and its a humanoid with four extra tentacles, vaguely like Doc-Oct.  just like in the raws.

Yeah. From now on, until I'm going to crack the chamber I'm just going to reduce their temperature to dwarf-normal. It's unplayable otherwise.

I've actually removed SoF, they're no fun and defeating them comes down to pure blind luck, i've almost managed to do it once with 100 ledgendary axedwarfs clad in steel and adamantine, but they couldn't take down the last two SoF's.

On the flipside, the other demons are hilariously weak, and i've substantially buffed them to make it more interesting.

But SoF's atm are just rediculous. There's hard, then there's fun, and then there's just plain silly. SoF's go off the scale.

Actually they'd make good Megabeasts, hmm.

The wiki actually says to use marksdwarves to engage SoF, preferably behind fortifications. Also...I somehow doubt that their temp can beat a multi ton mass of rock falling down on their heads. ;) Otherwise known as floor-dropping. Leave the melee combat to wizards with "grey" in their name.

Anyway, facing SoF in infantry combat, especially melee, is suicide. You can take them down by first giving them special edition 6-foot thick rock hats and then mopping up the remains with marksdwarves behind fortifications.

this is what goblin seiges and cage traps are for.  once you've collected 200 goblins, just let them have all the fun.

Wait... "unknown substance"? It's white? Tentacle rape monsters? Gentlemen, I believe we all know what the substance is. The question, however, is... "where's the spooky ghost"? ;D

You know what would be funnier? If the prisoners in the tentacle demon pits were completely naked and covered in the unknown substance.

Sure, they have claws, too, so they're not pure tentacles masses. However, I think we can all probably agree that the tentacles have big penises on the ends of them, right?

It's been awhile since I've had them so I can't say for sure, but I believe this is exactly what happens.

Huh, last time I opened the pits just to see what was there; I was deliberately unprepared, with nothing but about 8 champion wrestlers with steel plate armour and about 130 random other dwarves.  Sure enough, there were a bunch of SoF's in there.

I was quite disappointed when the carnage stopped; I had about 60 survivors, and they hadn't even left my mining tunnels around the pits.  I guess the trickle of dwarves coming to pick up the !!pig tail socks!! distracted them enough for my surviving wrestlers to rip their heads off (before succumbing themselves).

Tentacle Demon prisoners are sometimes covered in various substances, blood, unknown, filth, etc.
