obviously the guy and the fire is not a dwarfy situation.  He would be just silently mumbling about all the smoke, and never notice the blaze if he were a dwarf.

As for the army pic... obviously he's controlling the robot.  Perhaps the robot with the arm.  Most likely the robot with the camera.  but maybe, just maybe, the robot with it's own gun.
