I got my B.S. in math a couple months ago (January).  The ceremony is this weekend though.

at least for us here, who got no winter nor summer.

Now THIS must be hella annoying!  :-X I mean....I don't like winter to be honest for example, but I couldn't live in a country like yours.
I would surely miss winter, regardless that I don't like it. Weird, but ah well... ;D

I, too, finished highschool this year. Last week actually.

Homeschooling FTW!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

I'd like to get Mom a thank-you present for puting up with my shit since kindergarden, but 1) I'm not sure what to get and 2) I probably couldn't afford it anyway.

Now the real Fun begins... college...

Homeschool. . . what's that like?

Homeschool. . . what's that like?

 :)
I've been asked that question alot, and it's a hard one to answer, for me at least. I've never been to public school or anything similar. The closest I've ever been was when I (and a group of other homeschoolers) went to the local highschool to take the PSAT.

The laws vary from state to state, but here in South Carolina they're fairly loose. We were required to study certain subjects (I forget the details), but the exact curriculum(sp) is up to each family. Mom had to keep records. We had to do 180 school days/school year Any sick days had to be made up, but as long as we did something we could count the day, even if we just read a book or did a few math problems.

That said, Mom didn't let it get too easy. But we (my kid sister's homeschooled too) could work at our own pace. I remember that i had trouble with long division at first, so we spent extra time (maybe an extra week? i don't remember for sure) to make sure i got it. But this past year i did basic calculus.

If you have any more questions, I'd be glad to try to answer them.

Did anyone ever say, "Dude, is your mom like, a teacher?" or something along the lines of that?

Not to me. Then again, most of my RL friends were always homeschooled too.  ;D

But she has mentioned that sometimes the reaction to "We homeschool." was "You can do that?"

Here in SC, to homeshcool you have to be the "parent or legal guardian" of your student(s) and have at least a highschool diploma or have passed the GED.

You can also go to highschool on the internets. At least here in Wisconsin.
