so no, I don't think it's quite that simple

The Joke wasn't just an example... it was a quote. Someone in the demo said a joke that made no sense and Milo laughed.

What Molyneux is suggesting is strong AI ( I have a bet of about 5000 currency that we have in 2030 on this, so I AM hoping for strong AI soon ) and I just don't believe that's possible

Right if Milo was created to have full on conversations about you at length with human like responses all day.

It being a game however your choices become much more limited.

Peter only needs to focus on the aspects of conversation it needs to concentrate on and ignore all others.

You can't draw on a sheet of printer paper with a crayon

I was under the impression that it was a marker or something. Also it could have been cardboard or Cardpaper (I forgot the term for it... it is a thick peice of paper similar to cardboard)

And as I said right after that, you can't draw on a sheet of printer paper with a marker without it bleeding through the paper.

However, upon re-watch, I'm mistaken.  It's a sheet of whiteboard paper, and there is an actual fish drawn, which is visible when she shows Milo.

But I'm still noticing discrepencies between hand movements and the fish drawing, and I'm also noticing the comments that her hand movements don't match with the reflection, which itself is shown at an angle the Natal couldn't capture from where it's sitting in the scene.

Anyhow I am going to check the Milo video again.

Mind you I am not resistant because I think Peter is beyond faking gameplay, because it is a standard buisness practice, but rather because it seems like a needlessly difficult way to go around it.

Alright I am disapointed I check the video expecting some sort of great mystery to solve or even better you were right. Unfortunately it didn't turn out that way and basic observation won out.

Here is the answer

THE REASON HER REFLECTION IN THE WATER REACHES OUT BEFORE SHE DOES IS: Her arm is off screen. The Camera doesn't zoom out it cuts to a different camera.

(Sorry for the Caps... I am not in Modify)

Um, being able to detect movement isent some "great technology", obviously she can move the water with her hands. Its been done before and it will probably be done again.

Actually Cow of Doom it can be done with the regular Xbox360 Camera (it is pretty cool but it makes me fearful if someone is somehow watching... So I don't plug my Xbox360 Camera in)

Though it does that for all movement, not just your hands.

Natal I think allows it to distinguish because it is a 3d camera. Id assume though that it can't REALLY recognise that your using your hands so expect really scary Youtube videos that can't be viewed unless you have an account.

Possible, but not terribly likely.  Xbox 360s are probably a lower priority than Macs as far as hackers are concerned.

I don't believe it will happen... but it is something that just creeps me out

For example I cannot sleep with my windows open even though I am on the second floor. If they wanted to enter through my room they would need to climb on the Garage.

I know no robber is going to do so, even though they have in the past, but I just can't do it. When I do I get Nightmares that awake me.

Nightmares don't bother me, due to having heartwrenching nightmares as a child, but they can interupt my sleep.

...the reasoning. It's bulletproof.

All the more reason to think it was staged, then.

Cleverbot, on the other hand, I'm convinced is actually a room full underpaid Indian workers on laptops. Once I told Cleverbot that it was using a logical fallacy and it said "Name the fallacy, and I might believe you".  :o I lost an argument with a robot?  :'( Next comes Skynet.

I almost want to believe you here.  I'm having a conversation with cleverbot and its being weird.  Humanly weird...

Elbot doesn't impress me nearly as much as Cleverbot. Elbot hasn't given me a human-sounding response yet, to be honest.

That's because it is essentially humans you are speaking to. It uses the technology behind Jabberwhacky and Jabberwhacky works using a sort of feedback loop. When you say something to it, it remembers what you say and then repeats it to someone else later, it then remembers the response and uses it next time someone asks the same question. It remembers the context using a tree. It's quite basic actually. if you say something which it does not have a response to yet, it stores it in it's database, says something completely random to you, and then repeats what you said to it to someone else later to try to get a response to add to it's database.

Try saying something like "I am human". It will argue with you and say you are a bot. That's because it said "I am human" to someone else, and that person argued with him.

Here is a conversation I had:

Quote
Me: I'm human
Bot: You are a computer.
Me: I am a human
Bot: But you aren't.
Me: I am a human
Bot: No you are a bot.

Here is an example if it saying something random because it doesn't have a response in it's database (yet).

Quote
Me: toady one rules
Bot: Do you believe in God?
Me: itchy and scratchy show
Bot: What kind of music do you like?

Elbot was disappointing. Who knows, maybe we're all good at breaking AI. But I found, that for the supposedly 'top' AI bot, it understood very little of our (reasonably simple) conversation, and it was blatantly obvious when it didn't understand. When i said goodbye, he asked how i would rate him. I said 4, and he said, "That's funny, I programmed all my answers to be a 3." I was about to reply when I realised it as a cheap attention hook to keep me going. So I complemented him on that, and his response was "But I never said the hook was nice"

I'm all for the room of underpaid Indians idea if it gets us good AI.

Wait wait wait wait

That mean if I ask it some strange disturbing question, he will feed them back to a poor confused soul?

Human: Hello robot.
AI: Greetings. Did you ever taste human flesh?
Human: What ?
AI: I cannot get enough of it.
Human: That's disgusting
AI:Not as much as your mother

etc..

Edit:

Hah, actual conversation:

Me: How do you kill a zombie?
Cleverbot: You slice of his head or wack an axe into his forehead.
Me: Good answer, I'm impressed.
Cleverbot: You should be.
Me: Are you prepared for the zombie apocalypse?
Cleverbot:There's a test?
Me:No, only death
Cleverbot:Dead ones are good, they eat less.
Me:That's not true in case of zombies tinhead.
Cleverbot:Then why didn't you shave?

Huuuuh, ok...

Me: Like your mom
Cleverbot: Name.
Me: Mrs.Cleverbutt
Cleverbot: Liar.
