My tip: If you want to slow down Ether disease considerably you should look out for a portable shelter from general vendor NPCs. It's heavy (weighs 12.5s) but well worth the trouble if you can carry it. When Etherwind starts to blow -> use (= construct) shelter anywhere -> enter shelter and wait until Etherwind is gone. Ether disease can give you nice bonuses too but usually with a heavy price (example: Heavy carapace +PV but -DV).

Note that portable shelter takes a significant amount of time to set up, and then some more to get yourself inside. So if you do it when the Etherwind's already blowing... you will be exposed to it.

It's best to calculate the Etherwind season - it only blows on months divisible by 3, and it starts blowing within the first 10 days (IIRC) of the month. So before 1st of a Etherwind month comes, wait inside your house (practice performer or digging), or go inside a dungeon you know you can handle. You will get a message when Etherwind starts. Don't come out until it's all over.

Don't know if it differs much but I've always had it set up and enter it in 1-2 hours game time... That's considerably less than a day's walk to nearest town for example :P

...Or then have a scroll of return at hand although it's a bit risky to enter wilderness and read it during Etherwind.

I believe the issue here is... Uncurse only gets worn items, where as Vanish curse gets things in your inventory.

ahh okay, thats not so good then as I have not seen a single vanish curse scroll in my whole game :(

update -----
Just read the wiki, I think they just have lower odds than vanish curse but act the same, unless Im reading it wrong, anyway just popped back to mention the fact that I just got a wish :D , I checked the wiki and used it to get a deed of museum :)

So I am away to read about museums now as I dont want to screw this up :D

Cant believe I passed this game up! I did in the past think it was repetative but I can see a way where I can play succesfully now by knocking fame down.

Just one final note , I have he quest to get poppy, however I got to poppy but when I speak she just goes woof and doesnt come with me like she did in my last game, I have a hunch that it may be because I have 3 slaves and theres no room for her but I will need to check that.

Actually I dismissed my whole party and poppy wont follow me, why is that? Have trieed leashing it as well and it just goes woof

-----update
Ok I basically told one of my pets to go back to town, note this doesnt free a slot so I must abandon one to do the poppy quest

I have another question but I will update thread if I figure it out, basically I want to join the figters guild but I must kill 10 ice hounds, so will I manage those at level 10 and where are they?

Yet another question :D how do I cure disease? it isnt a mutation & cure corruption doesnt work

But I didn't mean going to town/house after Etherwind's blowing. I meant staying indoors *before* it started and stay inside until it's over...

Some tips:

If you manage to get a wish get some seven league boots. Then you can easily buy cargo at the pubs in Noyel and Port Kapul, and sell them for like 10k a trip (and this trains negotiation skill nicely). Basically buy inner tube/rope/fish at port kapul and sell in noyel, buy snow man or xmas tree in noyel etc.

There are a couple races and classes that start with Pick Pocket. You can use this to steal great artifact equipment from adventurers visiting your house (after you have maid). In order to train it, you have to go to derphy and make sure you have sufficient platinum coins for new skill. Use a teleport rod on thief guild guardian, go downstairs then immediately use incognito scroll/spell on yourself. Buy lockpicking from trainer.

Make sure to worship a diety... opatos is a nice choice for 10% damage reduction, boost to strength/con and weight lifting.

It's important early to do lots of the harvest quests. Even if you don't have gardening skill, it will train your strength, con and will. This will give you more hp per level and allow you to carry more. It's fine to fail them you take no karma penalty, and the loss of fame is good because high fame means higher taxes.

If you find Lost Wallet or Lost Suitcase stockpile them somewhere. If your karma ever goes to shit, you can turn them into guards for +5 karma.

What I used to like doing when I was strong enough was hunting Rouge bosses, TONS of random cargo left behind.

I just tried to clarify what means "significant amount of time". Of course keeping track of times and stay inside when Etherwind's gonna blow is the smartest thing to do but I'm too lazy to do that  :-X

Btw doing that nuke quest from Derphy is a very good idea  ;)

(I have 47 CHA so far on my lvl 8 elven pianist. you know what that means!)

The museum money is added to your salary. You need to boost its rank up a bit (by adding new types of cards and statues), or you will end up losing money as museum has an upkeep cost.

Are you strong enough to kill Mia the Cat Freak? Go to party quests and kill her again and again! Even though duplicate cards and statues have decreased value, it should still boost your museum rank, and the experience and loot would help too.

Kill some beggars when you're there... you might just be lucky enough to get the artifact: Beggar's Pendent! That's how I got mine...

Thanks forr the museum tip :) yeah I only have about 8 cards well maybe 4 of these are figuress, 1 named orc boss

In regards to uncursing a party members cused item?
Well answer is quite simple: Give them a scroll of uncurse

Now only if that cure mutation would drop :D

------

Okay just got another wish and got seven league boots, Im in palmia , Im away to see if the wiki has trade runs, I know noyel was mentioned but thats far east and a bit worried I will die, however I will give it a shot :) well once I grind some cash again :)

------

I have found yet another fountain, tbh I never make money as I keep getting distracted :) I will make some of this puppy cave run and then get more inner tubes and take them from port k to the east town

I have come across another fountain, what should I wisjh for now? I won a cure corruption at blackjack, I have a museum, I have seven league boots, any ideas?

Hmm... haven't played Elona in a while.  But generally if I can't think of something else to wish for, I'll wish for a scroll of gain attribute.  (Typing in just "attribute" should do the trick.)  This scroll, when you read it, will teach you a random skill you don't already know.  If you're lucky, it'll be useful.  If not... well, besides the crafting skills most others ARE useful, so the odds are in your favor really. :) When I wished for one and read it, my mage character learned Marksman.  Good stuff. ;D

Other good choices are wishing for a potion of evolution (random beneficial mutation), or a potion of descent, which makes you lose a level.  If you know Elona at all, you know this is actually a good thing. ;) The wiki probably has lots of other suggestions, as well.

Hi,

Yes its trying to get accustoned to the whole leveling thing being bad :) Its so tough, Im level 11 and still get killed in the puppy cave occasionally, I also need to kill ice hounds for one of the guild quests , I saw one in the puppy cave way at level 7 or 8 and it owned me severly.

That tactic with the boots and trading is the way to go, I just made 13k+ on one run and can make a massive profit on way back but those ogue bosses keep appearing and im not strong enough top take them down

Getting there though but if leveling down descales the mobs I think I may do that :D , Ive also considered incarnating an adventurer in the hope that mobs will scale that way and that the incarnate character will be tougher than my main.

Currently I am saving up for a ranch and am thinking maybe I need better pets than the little girl slaves at level 11

Actually rogues keep taking my cargos off me :( I dont see how I can make the money I want with them doing that, how can I stop that?

Well, lowering your fame is supposed to make them not bug you as much, so try that first if you haven't already.  Besides that, I usually ignore their demands and use a scroll/rod of teleport to run from them.  It works well enough for me. :) Then again, I never got into trading, so rogues probably didn't bother me as much as they do you.  Just try it, and let me know how it works out for you.
