enabling talking to gods!

They do not presently talk back.
"You look like a mighty warrior indeed."

"I am a peasant."

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

Oh. I haven't... bothered talking to anything that wasn't civilized. It's usually too busy trying to eat me.

Its pretty rare, it usualy says its name like:
"My name is ."
and its always a peasant.
And it has no family to speak of.

Anyway I found out when I was talking to a modded in creature as a wizard.

In any event, I'm sure temples will become much more... interesting.. with the magic arc.

Not to mention the gods actually being... err... beings! Hopefully with their own personal dialogue to prevent cowofdoom's hypothetical conversation. :-X

On that note, on further examination, that bit where I was mimicking what a god might say appears to make no sense whatsoever.

Temples will be more interesting WAY before the magic Arc once they become autonomous and can act on their own.

Anyhow currently the point of Temples is the High Priest who can give you missions. Usually to kill another High Priest.

Nist Nazush nom.
Fear the Blood-God.

Wait, 'nom' means god? So, all this time people who have been saying 'Om nom nom', actually said 'Om god god'....

"Clutter god god", actually.  And with Dwarven grammar it's probably closer to "Clutter the God of God".

I read this and envisioned giant temples on mechanical legs rampaging across the countryside, and it made me very happy.

Ah yes, Om Nom Nom Nom Nom, Clutter god the god of godly gods. God of stone stockpiles and the like. I recall him being mentioned in a previous thread.

Imagine summoning the Gods of your civ. Now if it wasn't an Elf who was worshipped by my Dwarves as the God of War.... *shakes fist*

Hopefully if there was a god mode, you would be able to "mod" the game, that is without having to restart the world before doing so. Anyway I dont think gods will acctualy be in the game, as I think you already are playing Armok...

He is the only "real" god in the game after all, the others are regarded as myth in the legends.

The fact that you can "talk" to any God speaks against your thesis. It's just not quite finished yet. Really, only Toady knows what is going to happen.
