The odyssey of Iton Dal
« on: June 02, 2009, 01:25:20 pm »

The boat wobbled on the waves, the dwarves within threw up more then usual. But they prayed to the gods of the sea and fishes to help them but he did not give a sign that he would, but still they kept on praying. In the distance they a lightning storm rumbled. The leader of the refugees looked upon his followers with disgust, he muttered prayers to the mountain god to deliver them to a haven but still there was no sign of land. The Leader Iton Dal was exhausted but still he kept the ship on a steady coarse, to where, no one knew.

Iton woke with a start and pulled himself to his feet.He went to the water cask and with a look of disgust started drinking it. He was looking at the floor, trying to stomach the water when the boat hit something, throwing iton into the water barrel. When another dwarf woke and was going to go get a drink of water he was scared out of his wits and tried to kill Iton with a spear  handle not knowing which side was pointy.

When Iton got out of the barrel everyone on the ship was roused. He went and checked the front of the ship. His mouth opened in horror as he saw the seas rolling and he screamed for every military dwarf on the boat to get ready for battle immediately. They all donned their blades and axes and the leather armor that was the basic for them and rushed to the front of the ship. They arrived just in time to see a beast with the head of a man and the body of a great serpent rise out of the water and started to coil around the ship. The military dwarves all started hacking at it, attempting to Peirce its thick skin but to no avail. While they where doing this Iton had donned his armor and weapons and had thought up a plan.

Iton had screamed the order out to every military and non military dwarf on the ship. The dwarves all started pushing the serpent-who was no firmly coiled around the ship and was crushing it- to the front end of the boat. When they where finally close to the end and ready to push it off, it uncoiled and slipped back into the water. Every dwarf on the ship breathed a sigh of relief.

Iton was standing on the front edge of the boat calling the serpent cowardly names and laughing at it. All the while not noticing the dark shape that was floating just under the surface of the water, not until it lunged at Iton and grabbed his arm and pulled him under the water.

Iton Dal sunk under the water like a stone. He looked at the foul demonspawn that was dragging him deeper underwater. He blacked out then awoke as the serpent threw him down on a dry hard surface. Iton Dal thought quickly and stabbed the demon in the head. It wirthed about in pain and agony and then it started lunging toward Iton trying to kill him but it missed. Iton held on to the sword until the serpent fell to the ground, dead.

Iton tried to pull the blade from the demon's skull but could not.He then looked around the cave and saw the piles of gold, jewels, treasure and buetiful mithril and adamtine blades that the serpent had hoarded all the years it had preyed on dwarven treasure ships. He took a mithral blade and sheild as well as mithral armor and looked at the enternce to the cave. He knew he couldn't hold his breath for that long. He then spied the serpent lieing prone,he took his blade and prayed to his gods that this would work. He took a chalice out of a nearby pile and put it under where the blood was flowing out,and then he raised the chalice to his mouth and drunk. The first feeling he got was that his toungue was aflame and finnally he felt his neck burn like his toungue.Iton passed out due to the pain.

Iton woke up and for five seconds couldn't remember why he wasnt on the ship when he did remeber and he rushed to the water and jumped in. The water would be icy could but Iton Dal didnt feel it, in fact he didnt even need to hold his breath, and swimming through the water was a breeze.

Soon Iton reached the surface of the water. He was pulled aboard the copper boat and all around him people asked him questoins and asked how did he survive the attack of the Sea Serpent. He told them the tale all but before he did he asked for a pint of water and he was soon given three which he drunk without disgust.
