Drivel? How can you call it that! I don't know what the hell you're basing it off, but they were all great.

Maybe he's upset that the last one wasn't point and click.  That it was 3d?  That it had a Star Wars Episode 1 reference?  That it had a really stupid puzzle near the end?  There're lots of reasons someone could hate MI4 some are even reasonable. ???

Drivel as in a terrible plot which didn't even make sense, not that it was ever really made to feel like it had a point and full of humour that just plain fell flat on its face.

I'm apparently one of the few who loved the third game. Its only flaw was that it was too short. The art style, animations and voices were awesome.

The fourth was horrendously disappointing though. I guess they got caught up in the 3D craze that was raging at the time and spent the whole budget on that. Coupled with a half-hearted story that didn't fit with the series and a number of bad bugs it just wasn't a good experience. Hardly even ran on my computer at the time.

Heh, Monkey Island was the first computer game I ever played, that and the other other Lucas Arts point and click, Maniac Mansion.

MI4's plot made less sense than any of the other games' plots? ???

The only one I ever played was the one with the Australian one and The Ultimate Insult, and I thought it was awesome.

That's MI4.

Incidentally, the new Telltale games start coming out tomorrow so today is the last chance to get the fancy pre-order deal thingie.

Having enjoyed the Sam&Max episodes and the original Money Islands immensely, I'm confident Telltale can't screw this up, so I just pre-ordered. I'll finally get to play one of Telltale's games like they probably should be played, episodically, with month-long intervals.

Now to decide which game of theirs I want for free.

P.S. Pre-orderers get to see some nifty stuff, like concept art. Though there's not much of it yet.

while we're waiting, I can't help but share this. It's sort of like if Monkey Island 2 was on LSD...

You know, I'm not really sure if I agree with this.  I consider the Monkey Island series to be an outstanding achievement in gaming history, an icon to be adored and fondled membranously fondly remembered.  And I never completed either of the first two.

Although my heart yearns to see Monkey Island breathe new life, I'm hesitant to trust that the series can be done justice be keeping it alive.  Some things are better left dead, and just smelly enough so that people notice it again from time to time.

I adored the third installment, and yes I even managed to get some entertainment out of the fourth one.  Sure, it had some stupid puzzles, and it wasn't quite as colorful as the previous game, but it had its moments.  Being able to squeeze a duck or eat a banana while contemplating your next move was almost as entertaining as the balloon+chewing gum combo from Curse.

But I'll leave final judgement until I've actually played the darn thing.  No sense saying how it is one way or the other before trying it out.
