Knives

I think it would be a good idea if dwarves were able to carry some sort of knife with them at all times. It might give them more of a fighting chance in the event of ambush. the skillset could be grouped under swordcraft, or with swordcraft under "bladecraft", or given its own skillset, or even under wrestling, since one would need some wrestling skill to be able to slice open the guts a similarly armed opponent. the types of knives would be awesome to mod: daggers, misericords, stillettoes, kukris, cleavers (for butchery), fish knives (for fish preparation), hunting knives (for dissecting prey), even machetes and pangas (although these are more swordy).

more equipment for jobs would be good in general, IMHO, and the more dual-use the better. harpoons & tridents, for example, used for fishing and self defence in the event of ambush. fishing rods. scythes for harvesting grass-based crops & sickles for berries. hammers, mallets etc. for smithing and stonework.

giving dwarves a means to scabbard their knife/tool when not in use would also be useful. In fact, allowing dwarves to scabbard/sling their weapons when they're not using them in general might be nice. it would enable people to develop militias who keep their weapons upon their person whilst going about their civilian tasks.
