HFS and their effect on the world...
« on: May 31, 2009, 02:57:27 pm »

So after salugtering all the elf civs, killing all megabeasts on a small map i generated, i got bored.
So I gave my adventurer some rst and started digging out an HFS.

Will they do anything else than standing around near the old fortress?
I hoped they would conquer/destroy fortresses and civilizations...

As I have leanred in the World of Traps and Attractions, releasing many demons will eventually lead to an extinction of 'good' races and ushering in a new age of demonic leadership.

heh. the age went from the age of one demon to the age of three powers, and there is only one tiny human town left in the whole world. the dwarves went extinct ages ago and the last elf retreat went a few turns ago in that thread. demons really mess the place up, although in the traps and attractions thread there are something like 8 forts across the world that have open glowing pits.

yeah, but they're mostly sealed up within the fortresses. If you strip mine open a literal gateway to hell then you're gonna get alot more.

And a welcome sign while you're at it.

Hell, turn  a house into an elevator into hell while you're at it. Filled by the ghosts of everyone who died inside it (bonus points if you get the ref).

That sounds like it'd be pretty nifty.

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.

You must use the "embark anywhere" utility, combined with the "nanofortress" utility, to systematically open EVERY LAST GLOWING PIT!

Undo what our misguided ancestors did in the War of Creation!  Demon rights!

Every demon is capable of taking on a megabeast, and everyone can lead a goblin civ.

And you can release up to 30 from just one portal to hell.  Yikes.

Okay, awesome ideas are brewing in my head for a Scenario Map:

Imagine a World where civilization has been all but destroyed, where the land has been reduced to flame-blackened fields, haunted forests, and dark, twisted mountains, where the last few bastions of Dwarven Civilization wage a losing battle against the Demon armies of the Hells themselves.

Ok, I was wrong, only one "Demon" is released with an HFS.  However, I've never seen an FD, TD or SoF in world gen/ legends.  If you release them, what happens?
