Just wondering, wouldn't "Doesn't drink alcohol" be a challenge? As they would have to use water instead, which is scarce in a desert. And why not drink blood? It would be another challenge, as blood spoils fast and can make you sick as is, along with the effort it takes to get it.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Okay.

You arrive at the desert, the hot sun burning your faces. Okiendo walks forward, impaling his pick in the sand. He yells "Strike the Earth!"

Now, pick where you want the wagon to stop. Then post an action.

Right where it is seems fine to me.

I'm going to start caging the kittehs, to avoid the cat-splosion.

I recommend our miner types dig down to the next Z-level, make a large storage area. Meanwhile, the rest of us can haul. Once the sandy storage area is complete, our miners should dig down till we hit rock. The rock should be used to build a palisade around our wagon.

Well, then...

Do I have a minor, speed increasing spell? If so, I cast it on the miners so they work faster. (Need to get inside ASAP. The infernal brightness is driving me mad. MAD I SAY!)

Ah, the long walk is finally over. I'll spend the next week hauling things inside, and mostly playing with the kittens, trying to get them to adopt me.

Kitties! :D

Nevermind. There are too many kittens, far too many to pet. There are also too many cruel people of my good friends who might balk at me petting the nice kitties, so I'll have to become a glorious champion first. Or a bedridden quadriplegic.

My real action is to go out hunting. It may be a desert, but there's always life if ya look hard enough, whether it be a giant scorpion of death or small furry rodents that the giant scorpions of death eat.

Is it possible for one dwarf to overhunt and kill everything in the desert accidentally?

Possibly.

So, Hunting:Sometimes, you will come upon a creature that will  fight back. Then, you(you, and you only) post actions(these wont be "weeks") and try to kill it. I would suggest taking some helpers with you.

I suggest we put the entrance to the cave in bend in the riverbed that's in front of the wagon's current location.  Start digging a ramp the direction away from the riverbed.  That way the riverbed can serve as a pre-dug moat if we can find some magma.  If we are putting the entrance there, we should drag the wagon over to a few spaces south of that spot.

For now, I'm going to play with the puppies while waiting for the miners to dig out the first store room, then help moving stuff down in there.

I'll go hunting with my mule, ask Okiendo if I can bring along a war dog, and ask somebody else if I can have a kitten as a diversion traveling companion. Whether I get help or not (Please? I won't adopt all the kittens...), I'll hunt carefully so nothing ambushes me. (If something sneaks up on a trained hunter in a desert, I want a very good explanation.)

Org, could you please put all the player personalities/status/skills and items in the first post?
