Trading does not work

So when i sell stuff to merchants, i am supposed to get coins, but i never get any if those, just a merchant debt.

And when i try trading some off my stuff for better armore and ammo, after the trade is completed the goods i traded in lie on the floor, but the stuff i was supposed to get is gone.
I cannot find it in the inventory, the floor and the merchant removed them from his stock.

Anybody can help me out?

In all shops there are tables next to the Merchants coin barrel... Any coins the merchant owes you and any stuff you purchase appears upon the table.
