I take it the kid was better off dead.
All he did was break into a house, really.  So shit no.

A thief who might even arrive armed and ready to hurt a person will usually be turned back by a large angry canine, because of the instinctive fear factor and very real threat.

This.  I used to have an English Mastiff, and I'd hate to see what he would've done to a burglar.  Even if he didn't hurt him, the barking would wake up the entire house and probably the neighbors.  That alone would probably get him running.

And just how far did the kid get before getting killed?

Read it properly. Kid didn't exactly get too far owing to the fact he was unconscious and bleeding. All the information we have is there, I imagine you can manage to read the whole thing like we did.

Exactly my point.

Exactly my point.
Only it wasn't burglary, but a hold up. And it wasn't a house, but a pharmacy.

Hang on.  Just which subject, of all the situations that have come up so far, are we on now?  And I mean that on a person by person basis.  It seems some of us got on a different track.

Regardless, a hold up does not get you the death penalty unless you actually carry out an attempt to kill someone in the process.  Just pointing a gun or what have you is not enough.

No one deserves to die, yet we all do. And if stupid kids die doing stupid things it can only better the gene pool and serve as a warning.

But why was he performing a hold up?  What could push him to that?  Stupidity?  Frequently, this is not the case; it is more often poor luck sending the guy into a desperate financial situation.

I have seen a man in court for armed robbery; they were not discussing the question of the death penalty and that had never been a concern for him.  They were going over the conditions of his rehabilitation.  He was simply on probation after doing his time in prison.

Yeah, sure we are all equal and the only factor that leads people into their positions is luck.
Maybe it's not right for him to die, but then again the concept of 'right' only exists in human brains.
He's dead, and I assure you it's just a tiny bit better than him being alive.
