So I was just glancing around my fort while some work was being done, and I noticed two hungry and thirsty Fortress Guards in the same square in the barracks.  So I check out their wounds, nothing, other than Dehydrated and Hungry.  They aren't sparring, just standing there.

So, I figure maybe it has something to do with the bed they're standing on, and remove it.  They don't move.  I try building a statue on the spot they're on, they won't move to let it be fully installed.  I try removing the floor tile they're standing on, they won't move.  Right now they're at Starving, Dehydrated and Drowsy.  All the other guards are fine and moving around, just these two seem to be stuck.  They aren't in a corner or anything, just in the middle of the room.

Any ideas what is going on and how to fix it?  It isn't a huge deal if they croak, as they're easily replaced, just strange.

Oh, and one is happy and the other is ecstatic, so it doesn't seem to be a mood issue.

Have you tried removing them from the guard?
Hmmm I don't know if an engraving or screen shot of the situation would help, but it could

They're both Champions, so I can't relieve them from guard duty.




Here is a screenshot.  The yellow X is where they are standing.  Other dwarves have moved onto the square and left with no problems, these two just seem to be stuck.

I'm guessing it's not an access issue, since you were able to remove stuff.

I can recall this happening to me once, but I don't remember what I did. Since it's outside and an above ground construction, try engineering a cave-in to make them out with dust. That might snap them out of their funk. There's no dug out floors beneath that guardhouse, is there?

There was a thread earlier about soldiers getting "stuck" while wrestling somehow. Try hitting them with a cave-in. Drop a floor tile from above or something; just make enough dust to knock them about a bit. That should snap them out of it.
