Though speaking of the forums there, I've never heard "carebear" used as an insult quite so much before the goons arrived there.  They're slinging it around like some kids would do to "gay".

Are you seriously comparing the usage of carebear with the word gay?
Carebear comes from EVE and other games, there are alot of people playing H&H a full PVP and theft game that cry on the forums about any of those systems being used.

I am noting sheerly the rather high frequency of usage, such that it seems like the standard insult there these days.

Well, it applies.

Here you have a game going for the full survival experience - gritty outdoors stuff and civilization alike. Theft, murder, and war are all natural parts of that. And then you have people like kobnach complaining about every aspect of PvP...

I doubt that things got this gritty on the real frontier, because most thieves would be hanging out in well civilized areas to steal from the higher classes. Not stalking peasantry into the wilderness and fucking them over.

I think I'm going to discontinue playing til a more civilized time. Myself and my three neighbors got our palisade broken open, and then got Rugs'ed. Once the map reset comes in, I'm going deep into a location, possibly with backtracking and loop-di-loops.
