My hearth fire got reset so I'm starting at the ring of Brodgar ATM, and that's just no fun. Anyone knows where the road is?

Where'd you read a 50:50 chance, Sean? It was a 10% chance without specialization, although I don't know if that's changed. I'm guessing specializing moves it by a couple percent points, but no more, mainly from personal experience - I've been tracking how many bars I get and how much ore I smelt.

Personally I'm specced nature, only two points from the maximum, and I've smelted 85 ore total, and got 7 bars out of them, which is about an 8.235% return rate. It definitely seems like it takes a long time to get the bars, though.

The 50/50 chance is for turning cast iron into a bloom.

Also, whoo! Tea and wheat are being harvested right now.

I believe I will now head down to Bottleneck for a while to help with the wall, so don't try to kill me like I said to do because of that imposter.

...unless you're someone like Milaha, it probably wouldn't go well for you, anyway.

Edit: I am here.  Someone show me where to start.

Edit 2: Nobody told me what to do, and the foxes are still murder for me, so I'm going back.  Oh well.

I have moved out of Bottleneck, just so everyone is aware.  I left my claim up in case I move back in the future, it should not be in the way (let me know if it is).

That is pretty much my message. Too much drama there. Taking a little vacation at the waterfront village.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Dragooble, when exactly do you plan on moving in and brining your hearth fire to the Hill Dwarf village, or will you just continue to make the hike each time?

Well looks like Bottleneck becomes deserted, huh? My hearth is there again. I'll be watching you with interest.

Hey all, I joined this nice-looking game, and am currently planning to settle down in the blue-on-the-map beginner's Bay12 settlement. Any tips for a new player? Also, a question: do characters get reset occasionally, or are they permanent?

EDIT: And are there no trees in this world, only stumps??? I'm practically walking in a forest of stumps now...

There has been a lot of deforestation. Walk further to perhaps see an apple tree (or a pine tree, but these are quite rare). Last time I checked there was one at the Ring of Brodgar.
