Beating and death?
Sounds like Dwavish justice at its finest to me!
Seriously, I think we will just have to deal with internal crimes via majority opinon on this Forum.
Crimes committed by outsiders should be left to the discretion of those on the scene...beating, looting, death, whatever, if they trek all the way to bottleneck just to cause some harm, they deserve what they get, IMHO.
The only place it gets a bit tricky is with citizens of other communities...but i think we can just leave that to common sense.

I'll be with you in spirit.

Are we applying for noble positions now?
Anyone applying for hammerer? though i'd guess that will be the same work as the sherrif.

The sheriff decides on what is to be done with the criminal.

The hammerer then goes and beats them up nonetheless.

Ivounteered to be a neglectful farmer, not a hammerer!
Gods no, not a hammerer!
Being a hammerer is a good way to wake up to a bed full of magma!

You know what would be neat? A site where we can post issues and vote on them, with voting closing in 24 hours. That'd eliminate the need for nobility and allow us to remain an anarchist commune.

Another neat tool would be a site that works like post-it board. I often have a lot of things I want to do, but only so much time to do them. This way I could post what I think needs to be done, and if someone feels like doing it he can take my post-it down and go do it.

Anyone knows of such resources on the web?

The light-green area is the area I know to contain houses. There may be some outside of that zone. I have not really seen the full perimeter of this place.

Black is the main roads. Hopefully we can get them to three-wide and paved.

The large off-yellow rectangle in the upper-left is the communal grain fields. If you see some grown grain, please harvest it, replant, and dump the leftover seeds in the bins next to the road.

The blue area is the tannery. Directly south of it is the cooking zone. South of that is the everything stockpile.

The black dot at the southern edge is the mine. I didn't put a zone around it to show the stockpiles and workshops around the mine.

Dark green dots are apple trees. See that largish one to the East? That is a grove of three of 'em.

I'm making my own small little roadhouse right now. Got three apple trees right next to each other, a huge clay plaza area, a quern, three baskets filled with food, and a kiln. Seen some rabbits and fox nearby, don't know what ring I'm in.

Edit: 7 apple trees. If you head just dead southeast to ring three, I'm on that ridge, right underneat the clay field that is south of Lothair.

I can't seem to burn my clay items in my kiln. I have the bar on the side full, the items inside, the oven lit. Been waiting for a long while.

Anyone who can hook me up with a beatiful dream can get a block of wood along with some bread and apples.

Is it an oven or a kiln?

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.
