So, can anyone please explain again how to get to the Bay12 area? The map shows northwest, the previous explainer said southeast... From the Axis Mundi at Brodgar.

The map is out of date.  We moved.  That's why there's a difference.  Though I suppose not everyone will want to move...

Here, you actually need to have skills to fight.  I haven't gotten said skills yet, so I can't tell you which ones you need.

You need The Will to Power and Hunting to preform hostile actions to animals. The rats don't really do anything, so it is pointless. However, rabbits are good. Right-click them to pick them up, right-click them in your inventory and wring their neck, and then right-click them to butcher. They leave behind a bone, a hide, and some meat.

And if you dry two rabbit furs and have clothesmaking or whatever that skill was, you can make bunny slippers!

It's actually the blue blob near the cliffs, not where the letters are.

I know, but I think I'm close enough. I didn't want to be right smack in a wall-to-wall line of cabins.

It seems it was just another hiccup rather than a full crash. Half finished things are as I left them.

2 questions:
How are you supposed to make a pickaxe (to mine with) if you need iron bars (which I'm assuming you make from ore that you get from mining)?
Charcoal-making isn't working for me. I can't place wood objects in the lit kiln.

You can also mine with your stone axe, but not as quickly.

To make charcoal, put any wood object (branches, probably) into a kiln for fuel, then put wood blocks (the thing other than boards you can make from a fallen tree) into the inventory of the kiln, then light it.

And wait.  Quite a bit.

Ah, thank you. The site said any wood object would work for charcoal.
One more; how do you increase happiness? I'm almost 50% below...

Killing and eating sweets.
Though, happiness is redundant. It really does nothing.
