The way that everybody uses seems to be making wicker baskets.  If you don't want to be leaving them all over the place, then only construct them with 9 branches, then destroy them when that's done.

Well, one basket takes 10 branches, and a lot of manual labor (meaning 20 clicks for the 10 branches you move from inventory to the site). I'm not sure how much XP they give. Eight axes take one click on the boulder, one click on the tree, and ten clicks on the "craft" button, totalling 80 XP from the axes, 16 XP from collected rocks, and 8 XP from collected branches. You have to dump the axes afterward, but: they don't take up space, and might make for a form of currency if we make enough of 'em. :P

Axes don't stack.
Also, you can just shift+click to automatically put items on the building site.

Refer to the map near the bottom of page 2 of this thread.  In-game, you only see a small portion of the map.

Ok, I set up nearby Malicus's house.
I hate how there are no nearby trees in the valley. :(

Don't take anything that will slow you down. I've already ventured to the lake and I got aggro'd by the same fox twice. :(
Rats are harmless.

EDIT: By the way, it is a long walk.

Ha!

If you think that's bad I was killed by the same damn fox more than twenty times nearby where I settled.

Clicking an area.

You have to wait until you recover at least one HP, so it'll take a bit.

Huh, that's good to know.

I think I'll set up a homestead near you guys.  I'm not sure yet if I want to settle on the tip of the river or in one of those valleys west of the lake.

I've got a cabin and a small farm area in what I consider the bay12 area (east of/around the area on the map where in blue text it says bay12). If you ever see King Kujo's (something like that) estate, I'm the cabin and farm just south of there. I'm grinding towards yeomanry!

It's actually the blue blob near the cliffs, not where the letters are.
