Digger digs too deep
« on: May 28, 2009, 11:29:44 pm »

Here's a unique look at digging too deep. I reminded me of some good discussion I read on the Suggestions board. Be sure to read at least to the shackle's inscription to get the full impact.

Ursula Vernon is awesome. I'm starting to wonder if she's a DF fan. The main character of Digger is very dwarf-like, and she draws some little lizards that look a lot like the Cutebold sketches that show up from time to time.

That's really awesome. Thanks for the link. Reminds a lot of the HFS and what they could eventually become.

This is exactly what df needs, vampire squash! I am so making a thread in the suggestions forum.

Wow, started reading this from the beginning. Now, several hours later, I'm hooked!

I, er, am unable to read what's on the shackle, could you write it down ?
As a guess, does it say "Rex" ?

It's a multipage comic, the inscription is read about four pages later.

This looks like a sweet comic, I'm gonna go read from the beginning. So much for productivity today, thanks!

The weirdest part is, this is a real world myth.

That furry mocked dwarves' ability to dig. It lost me there.

This is true, though I suppose she has a point. If you look at, say, Ironforge of Warcraft Fame, I'd like to see how that holds up without magic if you dig it out like that.

Professional rivalry. I'm sure the dwarves would say the same about wombat mining.

That being said, we now require a mod for a Wombat controllable civilization and race, do we not?

Digger used to be behind a paywall, until earlier this year.  So even though it's got great reviews, relatively few people have read it.

I'm glad that's changed.

This is pretty awesome.
the drawing stile is awesome, and the story stays varied while still exploring a lot of possibilities and doing that without dragging on too slowly, it's pretty good overall.

This makes 2 comics I learned of through this forum, both of which are fantasy taken seriously in exactly the awkward parts, making them funny, and both are black and white.
In case you're wondering, the other is yafgc.

Awesome comic, it really reminds me of DF.

But he underestimates dwarves, use magic to keep mountains from collapsing? Real dwarves fill the mountains with magma, let it solidify, and then dig the mountain again. Ah, the circle of dwarven geology.

Anyone got a wombat mod?
