I love my Queen!
« on: May 28, 2009, 04:00:41 pm »

In my current fortress, I've found the HFS, Prepared some grand rooms for my Queen, and waited.

She finally arrived, together with the dungeon master. Thank god! I can finally breed cave crocodiles... (yes I took out buildingdestroyer from the raws... makes for horrible pets..).

So as she entered the screen I took a look at her stats. Not that impressive, she's a great tracker and a semi-decent speardwarf and during her past she's been able to take down a Zombie Troll...

However, said Troll also seems to have gotten a-hold of her right arm.... her entire right arm! So she arrived and passed out....

Now, what's more appropriate than my founding miner coming out trough the wilds, picks her up, and carries her to her new artifact rock bed!

She's been here for a few seasons, and she's quite content with staying in bed, receiving food and passing out...

She's way better than the last one I mentioned on the forum, who got into a fist fight with my pet-dragon... That ended rather badly for both of them, and my dining room.... so much fire....

It's all relative.  The best noble is a dead noble, so this one is far better than healthy ones.

I like to slip into bear caves around midnight and gently caress the carnivore inside before leaving a small cut of fresh fish and sneaking out.

In a word: this noble cannot make any mandates. I'd love to have nobles like that. Much better than nobles who mandate steel for me, what with my civ having steel but no flux.

Edit: Sorry, make that ADAMANTINE.

No magma available?

(For caravan items, not the noble...)

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Once again with those bad forum memes.
King/Queen and Dungeon Master are the best nobles, indeed, The Royalty doesn't ever make demands or mandates, and the dungeon master pulls his own weight.

Listen to reason, this Queen doesn't mandate!

If it doesn't mandate, love it!

Let me use Loic scripting...

If dwarf.Noble mandates then
    dwarf:KillIt();
else
If dwarf.Noble ! mandates then
    dwarf:PreserveIt();
end

Except you, Dungeon Master.  You can keep as many as you like.

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.

It's the fact that she's healing that keeps her from mandating.  Some day she'll heal up, and then you'll see...

Aside from his room and furniture requirements, the king makes no demands and issues no mandates.

It seems like they don't make mandates.Verify
Anyways, you should read the DFWiki page about kings.

Nah, the Royals never make mandates, primarily because she's a history figure and does not have any preferences at all. I'm guessing that if you had a king/queen with proper preferences(as in, has any at all) they would indeed mandate stuff.

The fun part was that I was almost positive that she would be left unconcious at the edge of the map, and would be slaughtered by the next wave of orcs. It was quite a sight having her carried back to her own bed (the only unnasigned one in the fort).

Also: Breeding Crocodiles and Giant Olms and soon taming Tentacle demons to throw in a watery/muddy arena for Orc prisoners!
