Unbeholo - humans with dwarven hearts (community fort)
« on: May 27, 2009, 09:57:27 pm »

Somebody once asked me, "Why do you dig in the ground?"
I honestly did not know the answer.

My name is Ein and I like digging in the dirt.

One day, I decided living in a house was not what I wanted. I wanted to strike the earth! So I asked the King for land. He said there was plenty of land, but I told him I did not want the boring, flat land of his towns, I wanted mountains! He agreed, and I got my land.

The next order of business was finding some people to go with me. I managed to find a nice group of six others. That should be plenty to start my colony.

I've decided to name our group Dasar Bora, the Fellowship of Mining. Our fort is named Unbeholo, Smoothwall.
---------------------
Okay, now's the part where people join. We currently have 60 turtles for food and craft material. Everybody gets 60 points worth of belongings. No cats please. I've installed Impaler's Metals and Molten Rocks with some things from Civilization Forge and Dark Dwarves. No orcs, sorry, I'm not a fan of sieges. Also, because this is a human fort, I don't have access to underground plants or booze.

If you took a look at my mod it might help with your above-ground farming efforts.

I'm not going above-ground. I'm striking the earth. Thanks though, I'll check it out once all of my current fortresses have crumbled to their end.

Sorry, we don't have kaolinite (because the stupid humans seem to have never dug anywhere) but we do have red brass, which is bright red, and red gold, which even though it's a bit more expensive than 60 points, is pretty close in colour, and since you didn't use all your skill points, I'll make an exception if that's what you want.

Anything red would be preferable, so whichever of those materials is the cheapest one if you don't mind.

so this is basicly a human fort. but we are imitating dwarfs and digging in? interesting.

you plan on relying on military? or more on traps and seige weapons?

I plan on doing the dwarven thing and creating a pointless military consisting of peasants trained to become champion wrestlers and whoever wants to be a military dwarf, while have an obscenely complicated system of mechanisms that deal with any invaders.

Also, I went with red brass, so your carpenter's shop will be the colour of magma.

Hopefully Adernoff's creations won't catch fire due to the pure awesomeness of his workshop, but that seems unlikely.

Impaler's metals is a pretty awesome mod, but it replaces normal iron with 2 or 3 other types that have lower costs, so I end up with less points to work with for embarks unfortunately. Mostly because I end up with a 500 point wrought iron anvil instead of a 1000 point iron one. Selling those anvils makes a big difference.

you had me at 'obscenely complicated mechanisms'  ;D

gimme a mechanic named after me. you can fill in his items and such as you think would serve best. oh, and if one dude gets awsome magma colored stone for his work shop, i want something cool for mine too. microline maybe?

Like I said, humans don't have stone, I'll give you a cool metal.

Here's a list of the awesome metals (that are in the price range):
Bismuth - it's pink.
Nordic Gold - like a dark gold, almost copper.
Black Bronze - purple.
Carbonized Green Glass - green.
Carbonized Clear Glass - blue.

oh yea, no stone. durr. *facepalm*  :P

from that list, the black bronze is an easy win. purple is my fave color in RL, and the dark purple that it looks like is even better!  ;D

Black Bronze it is then!
Also, are you cool with being an engraver too? or do you want something more mechanic, like siege engineer?

dude, you somehow reached through teh internetz and read my mind. my first post was gonna say make me a mechanic AND a seige engineer (if you plan to have seige weapons). honestly, they are my two fave jobs just cause of how mad science-y it is.
