Elf War
« on: May 27, 2009, 07:07:51 pm »

Okay I just made an Elf Adventurer and when I arrived in my little forest retreat I got spammed with about 5 pages of combat text. There were about 25 elves killing each other! Has anyone else witnessed this peculiar event?

Question, why are you playing an elf?

I don't really know. Maybe because I wanted to start off right away slaughtering elves?

It doesnt matter what race you play, the elves are a short fast travel away.
and its better to slay them with steel, than wood.

I don't know, wood gives you an irony bonus.
Maybe the elves are so horrible, even elves are going try to kill them.

Maybe an elf got depressed and went berserk?

The dwarven economy is just a stand-in, from what I understand. As it is, it represents an actual economic system about as well as poison ivy represents a salad.

Going through the bugs list (ctrl f) I remember finding that if dwarfs attacked a berserk dwarf they would become enemies to their parent civs.

I just had this happen to me. I had fun burning the buildings and watching them fight while throwing rocks at them.

How do you burn buildings?
/Derail

Who cares what the cause is as long as the result is a lot of dead elves?

It was strange. In the middle of a forest there was body parts and blood everywhere. 2 groups of elves were fighting around this bloody lake. Both sides had several bowelves and civilians. None of them lasted long. The last elf standing was a child who was bleeding out and pitifully trying to drag itself away.

I've witnessed similar events in Human towns. Once I played a Play Now Elf, and wandered into a Human settlement for basic equipment. I noted that there were more than a few Elves in this city, some of which were slaves and children, and a few that were shopkeepers/tradespeople (according to Legends Mode they were once slaves themselves).

I approached the middle of town only to see Guards hurrying off somewhere, only to start seeing Combat Reports of what seemed like an Elf purge. Human Guards started attacking the seemingly peaceful Elven citizens, and they retaliated. Eventually, other Humans got involved, including a farmer who punched an Elven Child in the stomach, collapsing its torso into gore.

Honestly, I was rather horrified... needless to say I was thankful for that Elven Speed bonus as I booked it out of the town.
