I created a rough steel crossbow wielding dworf (starting weapon steel crossbow, vanilla ftw), but dies after his 1st encounter.
What was really strange, is that the night creature i went to hunt down, didin't need its legs to run. (?)

I tend to find bows and crossbows only really work if you have companions to finish off the crippled monsters since they're so useless at actually killing things. Of course, the side-effect of that is that you don't get credited with any kills...

I'm not sure what happened to that night creature though. Maybe it's a legendary hand stander.
