SPARTA COMMAND
« on: May 26, 2009, 04:24:41 pm »

Ok, my mars-based game has reached V0.00.01b.
My goal is eventually to have something like this, with more features, like mining and exploring the planet surface, as well as making it possible to, for instance, re-play Angry Red Planet, or play a premade map with a large base... and a sociopathic computer.

That said, this version is a little less feature-intensive.

Anybody want to test?
The controls are pretty self-explanatory.

Alright, I need your help with the first mission.
The game prompts me with a name. I give them a name, Sorai.
The game then prompts me with a class. What classes are in this game? Can you help? If I type Miner or 1 or anything, the game closes on me...

On the bottom of the desing article there's a nice list of all the classes with their names and colours ;)

It doesn't work, Virex. I type in the name of the classes (like Security, or Morale), and the game just kicks me out.

The program closes for me after putting in a name.  Is it looking for files or directories that don't exist?

Also, I wish I'd know about this earlier.  So many pointless ideas I could have contributed.

Oh, and Martian is misspelled "Martain".

Run it from command prompt (Start/Run... "cmd").

Alright, I think I know how the game works:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Not a very complete game though. I felt ripped off.

Okay, that sort of got it running.  At least I can see what's happening.

It gives me a prompt for class but immediately moves to "Starting game..." then I die due to low O2.

Is this just supposed to be a placeholder for now?  Where's PTTG when you need him.

You've gotta give it to him.  This IS a great simulation of SS13, so far.

Already?  How did you kill the Mars dragon?  And I can't figure out the puzzle with the giant stone face.

See that is where you lost. Your not supposed to fight the Mars dragon all the levels up to it are a trap.

What you really need to do is use the science tool on the rock behind the ship you start at and use it to open up the Alien's secret base. This will bring you to the correct alternate rout.
