The great, big
World Generation Skill Contest
(and leaderboard)

Currently the highest # of submissions is being led by Inaluct
(although really I just swiped all of his maps from other posts.)
As a reward I have painted him in his cartography vestments. He is showing off his enormous set of child-safe scissors!

Inaluct is followed by Yuhhaur who has posted 2 of the most useful maps. We don't know what he looks like, but we can guess. I have painted him in his office at the university of Genghis Khan.

By this time some of us have done some Extremely Weird things with the World Gen. Tool.
Its time to show off our hard-won knowledge in a simple contest of extremes.

Any area of contest that you think matters is valid. Not just the ones listed!

Simply post your region#-world_gen_param.txt (Or something equivalent) so that we can generate the map ourselves, and any interesting information, pics, and whatnot. If it holds its own I'll make an entry for it in the first post. If someone finds a world that is better than yours your entry will be replaced by theirs. Also 40d and 40d11 maps may take priority, depending on whether anyone cares.

Of course it would be most helpful if you could add what version/mod you are using and include a way of finding the location of the site. (if your entry is a site entry.)

Define 'most bugged'. Bugged as in game bug, or bugged as in hordes of ant men?

(Sorry. Couldn't resist making the pun.)

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Probably an old massive volcano destroy the world bug would win here.

Both! All possibilities are open, even... crazy ones like "World that reminds me most of my mother's old Better Homes and Gardens cookbook" or "Starting location that looks most like the face of Elvis." The value of any criteria is relative after all... I guess.
Arbitrary and Aesthetic things like "Best World" or "Sexiest World" can't really be judged unless someone starts a poll Though.

Someone embarked on a mountain that spontaneously collapsed killing most or all of the party. And someone else had a map with a waterfall that flooded the map. I'd consider both of those bugged.

I think I have a 6x6 to challenge dwarf heaven.
Unfortunately, I've made a few custom mods.

And its world painted, so I don't know if it is 'legal'. .  . but. . .
Here's what it consists of:
According to site finder it should have:
underground river
River
Underground pool
Magma pool
Magma pipe
HFS
Chasm
Bottomless pit
Flux
Sand (YAY)
aquifier x2
Access to humans, goblins, orcs, elves, dwarves.
Unfortunately, it doesn't also have granite. Tisk oh well.
Haven't done any searching yet.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And where would I upload my DF folder if people want it? (it being the embark location.)
Only significant mods I've done:
Mermaids in rivers (Floatings money bags), Orcs and humans spawn in any forest during world creation.

Thats all I can think of right now. . .

Edit: Oh, and enough z-levels to make most any megaproject, of excessive size.
z levels 91 to 203. So. . . 112 z-levels to play in.
On the down side, not alot of flat area to start. . .

Buggiest Map

Buggiest Map I can find for 40d:

Slapped Bells - the map with Chasm Waterfalls

Also - Aquifer, Magma Pipe, Adamantine, Huuuuugely Tall Underground River, Saltwater River.

When Generated in v0.28.181.40d11 it has salt water.
But When Generated in 40d it doesn't.

This is a bugged map. Not too bugged to be unplayable - just enough to be really fun.
Actually it is one of the most interesting and challenging maps I have ever played. I am sure we can find some far more, spectacularly buggy maps.

I have a large world, every region has a volcano, and magma pool. Naturally not all of them are named, most are just shown as magma pipes, but after embarking on some +35 sites i haven't found one that doesn't break the surface yet.

If you let a worldgen go for long enough, you could very well end up with a world spanning civilization.

Also, the largest civ is going to depend on how long you let the worldgen go and other factors.

Oops. That's fixed now. Pretty damned awesome mountain -reminds me of Pikes Peak.
If you let a worldgen go for long enough, you could very well end up with a world spanning civilization.
-With the most boring history imaginable. I wonder what it would look like with only 1 civ. But I think 10000 years is the max time for the Worldgen to run, unless you hack it. Also Civ never seems to spread into some areas, like those with high savagery. You probably would have to find the lowest possible savagery #s, turn off evil, make almost no mountains or oceans, and possibly moderate the temperatures to make the maximum biggest civilization. Modding or hacking the game would make things much easier though - like making goblins 100x stronger, so that they dominate the world.
