Advance slowly outside the vault, just enough to make sure I can see behind the vault door and make sure that nothing poses a threat. If it poses a threat and tries anything hostile, shoot it.

I go around the pillar and ambush the mutant from behind! However, I'll shoot only if I have a clear shot (not if its being grappled and I risk shooting a team mate). If no shot is available, wait for opportunity as I am terrible in close combat.
