Ds: Disease Level. Only dangerous once your R hits zero.
HP: Hit Points. -5 equals dead.
R: Resistance. Once this hit zero, you start getting infected by the disease.

Y'know, Jack_Bread, you should let us re-roll our characters a certain number of times or assign our own stats to some degree, because my character sucks at everything science related.

That could tie in to the "mutant" theme of the game, with characters choosing in where areas to "evolve" or "mutate" in, allowing some specialization.
