you've left out miners and hunters =/

I would say hunters and fishdwarves as the two most dangerous professions.

Elf traders and recruits. My last fort lost so goddamn many guards and newbie recruits to sparring 'accidents'. Hell, the king brought five guards with him, and they all got slaughtered within a year sparring with off-duty guys wielding masterwork steel weapons while wearing leather armour. (I stripped and melted their sub-quality steel.)

As for the elf traders... Windmill-powered pumps.

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Nothing dangerous EVER happens near a forge unless you've got a grate loose.

Some days you get the fish... some days the fish gets you.

If you're a dwarf, it's usually the latter.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

Make sure you have a river and not just a brook. Wait 10 minutes. You should get "Urist McFisher has been struck down" messages, if you're lucky...if you're not, the carp will only rip off a leg and wait under the bridge for the dorf who comes to take him to your hospital.

218. No matter my alignment, organizing halfling pit fights is a violation.
231. I am not allowed to do anything that would make a Sith Lord cry.
240. Any character with more than three skills specializing in chainsaw is vetoed.

I have had rivers devoid of all nonverminous lifeforms.
Yes rivers, not brooks.

Fishing isn't as dangerous as it was in earlier versions, you can easily designate safe areas for your fisher dwarfs to fish in the current versions.

I'd have to say recruit and noble are the two most dangerous professions know to dwarf.

Yeah, you can designate the area..but when those run out, kiss that dwarf goodbye. They also don't really seem to like listening to water zone designations. We actually go out of our way to create noble dangers...other than that, their job is smooth sailing.

you know, ive lost all respect for carp.

I had a weaver who liked cats.  He liked cats ALOT, all 9 of them...

I also had a river full of carp.

Given their reputation as dwarf slayers, i figured they would take care of my pet population and slay or neutralize my errant weaver.

an hour later i had a food stockpile full of carp.
