As a wrestler how do I grab or takedown?

I am new to adventure mode and I heard wrestler was fun so now I want to know that options.

I am fighting and C does nothing, I hit it and it just remove the log of my previous attack.

Ok, stand next to the monster

press (Shift + a) and a menu should pop up. Press (enter) to switch to the wrestling mode. From there press the letter corresponding to the monster and you'll enter the wrestling menu. From there just scroll up or down to select the part you want to grab. After grabbing go back through the same process above till you get to the wrestle menu. THe very top options should be things like throw, take down and (if you're doing it on anything thats not a wolf or bear or other animal like that) lock.

Take down knocks the enemy to the ground
throw does the same thing
lock allows you to put a lock on joints and from there break them.
also, you can grab the neck and strangle or the head and gouge out the eyes. You need a free hand for eye gouging.

Ok that is where I messed up, I didn't go into wrestling mode I only did attack mode.

So thank you fine sir. Now if you don't mind I need to break some farmer legs.

Make sure to break the left hand first.

Because lefty's are better at killing....... and in medieval times everyone fought with the left hand ..... something to do with the ranks and formation

I don't think thats true. The romans only alowed rightys in the front ranks.

As long as "front ranks" were ranged units which retreated after they score a hit, I don't think that right/left hand matters for a ranged attack... Strange.

can you gouge eyes whilst holding a shield or do you have to remove it first?

Gouging requires an open hand, doesn't matter which one. So you can do it with a shield still on, but only if your other hand isn't occupied. You can lock and break with just about anything though.
