One of my dwarves (Urist tathurmeng) was married to another (lenny) dwarf, nothing unusual, and had 2 children. The husband (lenny) was killed by a band of Uruks in 202. In the late autumn of 203 i got this message: Urist tathurmeng, Ranger, has given birth to a boy.

That sounds perfectly normal.  I had magma happen in 203.  :P

Keep in mind dwarves might as well reproduce with spores. So, my guess is you just found out the upper limit for dwarven gestation.

couldn't he have simply impregnated the wife  winter of 202 before he died, or am I missing something?

The mother is apparently the one who died. So... a dead body gave birth?  :o

What gave you that idea? the OP clearly states that the husband was killed about 9 months before the wife gave birth?
