Creature help
« on: May 23, 2009, 01:29:17 am »

Hello, I've recently tried my hand at modding and was hoping to get some help with my attempt at making magma sources more fun.
I made some fire hippos but for some reason they all die soon after I embark.
I followed one around before it died and I noticed it was drowning.
Even after I added the [NO_BREATHE] tag I still see this happening and they only seem to survive for a minute until they die.
The fire hippos do not catch fire (nor do their corpses).
I haven't been able to solve this problem so I've come to the forums now to ask for help from more experienced modders.

The logistical problems dealing with a private space colony are at least as bad as dealing with the zombies.

The tag is [NOBREATHE], not [NO_BREATHE].

Also, [LARGE_LAVA] isn't a real tag. Not sure where you got that one from, I can't find it in the raws =/

They work fine if I remove these tags :)

Thank you, I got those tags from the wiki and I wasn't entirely sure if they were valid but decided to throw them in anyway.

get rid of [STANDARD_FLESH] while you're at it.

get rid of [STANDARD_FLESH] while you're at it.

[STANDARD_FLESH] is fine on this creature. it's only if you use [FIXED_TEMP] it becomes an issue.

if you don't believe me, look at fire imps- they have standard flesh.

More precisely, it becomes an issue if it's encountered in the raw file sometime after the temperature-related tags. Fire hippos have it before all those tags, so it should be alright.

FIXED_TEMP creatures can probably have it if its used in this way, but it would probably be almost completely useless due to the fact that they normally ignore external temperatures, so it's probably best just not to use it with them.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.
