I give new War Dog "Pets" to anyone in my fortress on a mood that won't be completed (glassmaking, usually) or is very miserable and may beserk.  I have 70 of the things running around, means that basically any amount of enemies would be repelled by the sheer volume of dog.

With 5 floors I can have 5 x 16 = 80 dorfs for premier citizen. Bedroom blocks start at Z-3, and bedroom lobby, dining hall at Z-2. Z-1 will be workshops + workshop stockpiles & Z level is entrance + farm + brewery + trade depot. I have a special passageway from brewery to wine stockpile to kitchen + dining hall
