"has no DRM"...
Missing bit:
(But it does have a program bundled with it that is required to be running to play that does many things a DRM does and more but because we say it is not a DRM, then it is not a DRM even though it serves the same purpose and would be if we didn't say it was so it is not a DRM and thats final)

Securom 7 only runs when starting the game. It runs to do its dirty work then shuts down.

Fixed. If I am wrong, many people would be quite happy, but honestly, do you think they WON'T have it keep running to eliminate memory editing?

It's likely that it has a process start with windows, maybe as a .sys while windows loads the essential components(I saw one, probably a virus, that was a .sys that loaded with windows, gaining so much power that it didn't exist to antivirus software and couldn't be deleted or accessed from anywhere within windows, and ALWAYS got to run. Unfortunately for it, Ubuntu doesn't care to run it ;) ) And it could probably cloak it's process if given a chance.

If we are lucky, it only runs while the game does, but seriously, would EA be kind to the end users in ANY way?

No, it's installed as a service and it only comes up as the game starts. You can find it under your services list, both in vista and xp. Unless somehow it got forced into running all the time, that's not its normal behavior.

You know... Once the game is released we really should make a new topic for it.

I could check to see if it's actually true, but I'm pretty sure it is.

Good times, good memories. Although I didn't post much toward the end, just lurked in a corner watching the madness unfold.

Hmm.  Anyone know if it's possible to add new wants and fears to your sims through modding, in either Sims 2 or 3?

I just decided that I really want to add religion.  Mostly for the sheer awesome factor of random new-agey sims that want to hold solstice ceremonies or whatnot.  Also, influencing other sims to your religion (especially kids), and the fun wants/fears you'd get of raising a kid in a two-religion household.

Heck, the first thing I ever tried to do in The Sims 2 was make a community lot that was a church with a crazy random preacher living in it.  Of course that didn't work, like, at all.

...Actually, now that I think about it, I'd really like an open-source Sims type game so I could mod this kinda stuff into the core functionality :/
