The age of the Goblins
« on: May 20, 2009, 12:49:51 am »

In my current world it is the age of the Goblin: There is only the goblins and my seven dwarf party. No dwarven, human, or hell, even elven civs to trade with. And I have no anvils. would adding in a smelter reaction to get an anvil require a regen?

Yup. Probably.

Why not just abandon and start with an anvil instead?

Or try and tough it out with what you have. Then watch everybody die terribly. THEN restart with an anvil.

You can replace an unused smelter reaction like the Rose Gold reaction and make it spit out an anvil.

Interesting... the fort seems to have reached some semblance of autonomy... I'm going to bed now, I need sleep

If you have obsidian, then you can just make swords out of obsidian. And remember, you don't need steel blades if you have pressurized magma and bauxite. Armor? Make it out of goblin bone that menaces with SPIKES of goblin bone! And if all else fails...just send in the cats.

Ooh a post apocalyptic world where the dwarves no longer have metallic technology. Sounds a bit like a mad max sort of thing with just a few dwarves cobbling together what they can out of stone, magma and bone in order to survive in a goblin infested wasteland. Now that is a DF game.

Oh Gordon Freeman, what medical procedure can't you educate alien war machines about?

Maybe wrestling is the way forwards.  Or you could have taken an ambusher for a free crossbow (but I guess you didn't).

Screw weapons, automated sentient deathtraps incapable of distinguishing between friend and foe are the way to go.  Also remember spikes can be made of wood ;)

Leather armor is easy, crosbows and bolts can be made out of bone, legandary wrestlars kick ass, and a soap entrance-way is a lot better than any of that shiny platimun stuff.

Out of curiosity, do you have the seed for the world?

Bone armour, obsidian swords, wooden shields, and whatever weapons and armour you can filch off the goblins. Sounds like a challenge!

Of course, trap components are either going to be wood, or unusable weapons.

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.
