Easy way to extinguish the flames: reroute the water for your elf drowning chamber, and pressurize it, then eject into the burning level. Then build a series of pumps to drain it. Problem solved-maybe.

I have no idea if that would work or not, but it would require some rather... odd... redigging, since i can't route water via the surface as it has this annoying habit of freezing solid.

I thought that was only with the 2D version? I thought steam was safe nowadays.

Shouldn't miasma be toxic-of-sorts anyway? Since miasma is based on the medieval-ish belief that diseases were spread through smells.
Shouldn't this mean that miasma should cause diseases, or at least a low-level posion of some sort, anyway? Rather than just unhappy thoughts?

Something for Toady to think about at least :)
