Hmm...I don't think Jagged Alliance has a screencapture function.
There was the game on LP Archive, but he didn't say what he used.

If I can get a few programs working properly, I will have a LP with hours of poorly translated dialogue.

Jagged Alliance 2 v1.13
Strategic/Tactical Turnbased Mercenary action.  You've got to hire and lead mercenaries to liberate Arulco, a South American (?) nation from it's dictatorial queen.
Got just about every firearm you can imagine.
Hey, I've got this. Well, it's my brother's but I have free access to it.

Whew, this hasn't been posted in a while.

I've been considering a Let's Play of Betrayal at Krondor, mostly fueled by my desire to play it again, and maybe beat it this time.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's really a game with room for much interaction.  "Eh, the Kingdom can go hang; I'm back to LaMut for a beer."
Also, I'm not sure if it would be better done as a video (on Youtube or something), or as a series of screenshots.  Not much in the way of movies that need capturing, but I did really like the music.
And I'm still dithering about doing a Let's Play or not; worried about the time, about how to use Youtube/Image hosting services, about the risk to my computer...ugh, I can get really paranoid sometimes...

There's also that point...
"There's already a Let's Play of Betrayal at Krondor.  It's called Krondor; The Betrayal, and it was written by Raymond E Feist."

Well, I'd say if you want to do a Let's Play, go for it!

I'm doing a LP of a game that has already been done (See Sig, go there!).

I'd suggest incorporating humor to make up for the lack of interaction.

Sadly, most LP's seem to achieve stasis long before they're finished.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It would be kinda cool to see Youtube of the intro or something.  Better yet, Youtube the ending.  I can always download the game for the intro, but lack the patience to see the ending.

I fail to see how a LP would put your computer at risk.

Another person having already done an LP shouldn't stop you from starting your own for that game.

Heh, no it's actually a published book.  By the author of the setting (Raymond E Feist, Midkemia).  Dynamix made this awesome game in '92.  Feist decided the story was pretty awesome, and adapted the game as a (also awesome) novel in '98.
Actually, I think I may have played the game before I'd read the novels.

Make a great joke, if I were doing a Youtube LP, and I could get that bloody webcam working, I'd start with "Well, I was going to do a Let's Play of this most excellent game, but it turns out it's already been done." hold up the book "Oh well." and proceed to RickRoll or something.

I suppose I could start playing it just because I feel like it, and just record videos or screenshots or something (DOSBox makes .avi and .png, I believe).
I just don't know the first thing about imagehosting services or posting videos on Youtube, so that sort of thing makes me nervous.

Hmm...if I did a video LP, how would I get audio commentary going?  I've got a mike built into my laptop...
Use DOSBox to record the gameplay and use SoundRecorder to record the commentary, then splice them together somehow?

Now if only I could get a voice coach...where do you go for that kinda thing?  Drama classes?
I used to really dislike my voice, now I suppose it doesn't sound too bad.  'Academic-sounding' was how I heard it described lately.  A voice coach would still be pretty nice, but I think my main problem is going to be cutting out the 'ummmmmm' (Linguistic Fillers, gotta love Wikipedia)

Is there a way to create a computer-generated voice and use that for video LPs? Because I don't want to have my voice known, at all.

You could probably type up your script ahead of time and use Windows Narrator.  The default voice is...stilted, and probably will skip the names and fantasy words.  There's supposed to be a way to download more, but I'm not really sure how or where.

Heh, maybe you could download Vocaloid.  Have Hatsune Mikku narrate your LP.

What do you use to splice together the game video and the audio commentary?  Windows Movie Maker?

Okay, I'm just stuck in my usual indecsion mode, I guess.  I've been cruising LPArchives HowTo Guides, but I still can't decide... :-\
Trying to decide if I want to do it or not, or whether it should be a screenshot or video LP, and what style I'd use.

Okay, not a lot of interaction, so it'd have to be more of an entertainment/walkthrough LP.

I don't think Video would add much; I think I could probably convey most of the information with screenshots, and then a video may just be travelling/wandering about, or something I'd have to skip.
And the cutscenes and such are availble on YouTube, I think.  The music was one of the nice things about the game.  I guess I'll just tell the readers to go listen to it.

(I think this might be my big stumbling block)
I just can't shake the feeling that, the game something like a book, that I could just take one or two screenshots and have the rest of the game more efficiently transmitted as text.  Oh, wait, they did that already.
I'm just trying to think of ways around it...maybe just show cool events, equipment, characters, and the like...but there's already a Krondor Helpweb website that has absolutely everything.

I think I'm starting to understand how Dr. Manhattan feels.

I suppose I could think of it as a way to share it with people who haven't already played the games/read the books, and wouldn't have experienced otherwise.

Has anyone else played this game?  What do you think about this one as an LP?

I seem to remember playing it a bit when I was little, but I didn't get very far and I don't remember much about it. The clearest memories I have of it are the last bit is in a desert and my sister listening to Dido while playing this game, so I can't help you.

Windows Movie Maker, yeah. It's rather effective, but it's not on my laptop, which is where I plan to actually play the game ("Black and White" by the way). I was thinking of playing as a God heavily inspired by North Korean properganda, as the gimmick.

I am finding some free voice sythnizers. Hm...maybe people can liste to patroitic North Korean songs while I suppress reactionaries...

Somebody should do a Let's Play of The Sims (1/2/3), with all the Forum Buddies packed into a trailer home.

...I might do it...
