Server's down.

2d map would only really work if it only had 3 zlevels or so, unless you just wanted a sheer cliff to build a fortress on.

Personally, I think a deeper map would be better, more like the old one. Probably don't need so many levels underground though, most of it'll go unused.

Hrm, too many pointer errors with my client. Still, some crazy maps are being had. I'll try to get some screens up.

I want one where we can build freely in addition to a single main megaproject.

Perhaps a map with two 'islands', one being devoted to the megaproject and the other to whatever stuff anybody wants to build?

So long as there's a sufficiently high ceiling, I agree with this, although wouldn't it be more like "One island devoted to communal megaproject, everything else to whatever the fuck anyone wants to do"? Because, I mean, the sky's not an island, nor is the sea (OF MAGMA!?!).

Well that was a waste of time, I made the map and then I realized I was using an older version of OME and now I have to start from the beginning.

EDIT: I give up, the program crashes wayyyyyyy to much and I can't even amke a map with that much crashing. I have no clue why it's happening but I hope other people have better luck.

Is there no longer a server? It was an entertaining way to spend a few hours while I was stuck with the miserably horrible internet I've got at home, and I don't like the attitude of the public servers: I don't want to fucking touch anything that gets run like a goddamn police state, as a manner of principle.

Looks like everyone's given up. Other people either can't host, can't generate a map, can't keep their computers running, or, in my case, can't handle the sort of flagrant disregard for common courtesy and respect certain people have. I'm pretty much permanently barred from hosting, as my address has been exposed to those untrustworthy types, and I haven't the patience to manage and monitor each new arrival. You could always try, ya know.

Aqizzar one showed an interest of running a server I think. Although we eventually just lost interest.

Hopefully he'll get something up with the next version and we all start playing again.

I think we're all waiting on multiplayer surival mode.

On that topic, Sheep now drop white blocks in surivival mode.

Minecraft will not die, minecraft is forever!

We're waiting on it like DF.

Also, the blog says he hired an artist with some pre-order money about a week ago.

Yeah, what the Hell is Notch even working on anymore?  I see just in past couple days he posted some stuff about more sophisticated character models (which is cool), but before that was two weeks of talking about movies or something.  Tarn Adams this guy is not.
