Can't potatoes and carrots be found via zombie drop or by way of chests, particularly in abandoned mineshafts?

I'm on peaceful, no zombies. don't know about chests... I haven't found a mineshaft yet. Actually, I've spent very little time mining. Just got a bit of iron and some stone for building, and enough coal to keep me in torches for a while, and that's it, really. Mostly just exploring, foraging, growing... And building my house.

I'm not even sure if mineshafts exist in this modpack. I haven't found any, and I've spent a lot of time mining.

There's a mod called Enviromine that causes overheating and dehydration, and I recall a mod somewhere which simulated the overworld and the sun drawing closer, eventually causing damage if outside during the day, among other things. Alternatively, you can use a command block to call for the player being at certain position ranges at certain times, and inflict damage by various methods, or you could mod it into the code yourself, since this is pretty simple as far as additions go.

Hm... Some parts of this EnviroMine look useful, but not all. I might try to pick it apart and take only the pieces I need... And add one or two of my own... It may be time for me to learn how to mod!

Specifically, I want to keep the hydration and temperature, but lose the sanity and other parts. And I want to add a piece of equipment, a stillsuit, which will negate the hydration issue... Something for the future, probably, since I already have too much on my plate at the moment.

EnviroMine is in the Dust pack in the FTB launcher, so I've played with it a small amount. It appears that it's pretty customizable - I don't think I ever saw sanity effects.

It doesn't quite negate hydration, but it includes one of those backpack water container things that takes up your chest slot. If you craft it with a bottle of water in your 2x2 window, you partially refill it and get the bottle back.

Hmm... That could work alright, with a little fudging on what I call things. And then I wouldn't have to learn how to mod!

Now that I've got MultiMC working properly, I'm mucking around with custom modpacks. I just made one instance with the forestry mods and all its extras, buildcraft, and the hunger mod from harvestcraft. After adjusting the config files to remove all references to harvestcraft, it seems to be working fine! Although now I'll have to actually find enough food to survive, without all the fancy vegetable farming... Hmm.... Still, it seems unwise to mix harvestcraft and forestry.

Forumside, throw up a thread either in Other Games or Play with your Buddies. Clientside, some porting work is required. Throw application details and your piece in the first post, and see what happens.

Except kitchens. Advertising English kitchens is a proud part of the forum heritage.
