On the other hand, Minecraft was in a magical, RPG-ish world ever since the initial concept, it's just that the features weren't added then.

Yes, the RPG was never added. There's plenty of magic.

Eh, I misspoke on the magic bit admittedly, I don't know exactly what their reasoning for that removal was. Still, I'd say it's rather different from simply being a poor copy. People tend to act like Minecraft is somehow 'stealing' good mods, instead of... Ya know, actually making itself better by incorporating them. It's not like it's some sort of money grab or anything.

Whether they should be focusing more on their own stuff is, of course, another argument entirely. I just don't see how some incremental improvements from the modding community is a bad thing.

Official modding support is still flimsy even though it was supposed to be a thing years ago. Instead they focused on multi version running frontend which is a dumb stopgap measure.

I still think we should merge the Minecraft and Minecraft Mods topics together. Neither one is incredibly busy. We could hold a poll, if the OP of either topic is around. My reasoning is thus:

-Modding talk often ends up in this thread anyway.
-There would be only one topic to follow instead of two, saving small amounts of time and a bit of New Replies space.
-Darn it, I shouldn't have used dashes when I only had two points.

It's just that it's being used privately due to it being the building server for a project

I'm not aware of any modded servers still going. Forsaken's one closed down a while ago.
