Does anyone know how to get an old version of minecraft? MCNostalga has been taken down, and I need 1.4.6 to run some mods. It's incredibly annoying to try to get this.

Is there a place I can just download the old version? It's a jungle of poorly-disguised scams and phishing phishers out there.

I don't know what was going on, but I couldn't find a reputable place to download MCnostalgia that had a working link.

I like minecraft with additional difficulty, such as server plugins or mods. The first can be played with "vanilla", and multiplayer can be harder as well. And custom maps.

3/4 times I make a new world I'm stuck in an endless snowy forest. Randomness just has it out for some people. I wish the game forced certain features to generate within the spawning area, like at least one village and one extreme hills biome.

They aught to use what I do. Generate rainfall and temperature noise (simplex may be faster than perlin),then use those as dimensions for the old fashioned climate matrix. As long as your noise is consistent, you CAN'T get deserts next to tundra.

I'd prefer DF generation. Actual continents, oceans and such.

DF only has to generate a limited world, and creates it all at once rather than as you walk around.

I know, but making a "general world map" (mountains here, ocean here, jungle here, etc.) based on realistic generation, then generating chunks as you move, would be more realistic. I wish there was a mod...

Until a glitch happens and you're stranded in the middle of the ocean.
