Anyone found use for emeralds? The villagers seem to sell pretty useless junk for bad prices. I'm currently hoarding them just to have something to do.

They make decent transmutation fodder. 1/8th a diamond definitely counts for something.

Also 1-1 ratio for ender pearls if you need additional thaumcraft crucibles.

This thread is for the unmodded game - he's talking about the emeralds that have been added by 1.3, not the Redpower emeralds.

I thinking of taking up a cannon building hobby. So far, I've built a basic wimp cannon, and now working on a verison that fires two TNT at once. I wouldn't say its going too terribly well, seeing as Mk.1 of it exploded in my face. I have the arming mechanism done, its just the charging mechanism that I'm having problems with. Its also incredibly impratical to build in any sort of survival setting.

Well, you need 4 TNT to create a shot for the most basic desgin. Still, its not something you want to fuck up.

Also I finished my desgin, and then realized I could actually shoot 4 TNT with the cannon. So I guess its worth it. I'll post a picture of it for those who want to replicate it fairly soon.

Have any of you guys had issues with something called javaw.exe eating up cpu space after minecraft is closed? I've been trying to close it with the task manager but it just ignores it.

javaw.exe could be any java process. If it only shows up after minecraft closes, minecraft probably didn't close properly for some reason.

Some .exe's like to stick around after you close a program. But if it's not letting you close it, it might be a virus.

If anyone is interested in a server, I host one that runs from 1:00PM PST to 8:00PM PST. There's around 15 players now and some groups have formed. The reason it runs part of the day is to make large, permanent bases possible without needing to hide down at bedrock level. I'm going to be shrinking the hours this coming week as well, changing them to 1:00PM PST to 7:00PM PST.
