question: how do you allocate more ram on minecraft?
windows 7 64 bit pc here!
I believe it has to be set with a certain code in the Java control panel.

Though you NEVER want to allocate all of your RAM if I remember right.

How much RAM you have?

TFCraft has been updated! WOHOO!

Too bad it conflicts with some other mods such as EE.
But at least I can have many more types of wood stone and ore now!  :D

edit: and caveins as well!  :o

Minecraft actually works better if you allocate less memory. I went from 1GB to 256MB and I'm getting less lag spikes, and the rest of my computer is much more responsive. I do run out of memory if I use a big mod pack like technich though

Which reminds me... how do you do this?

This is only true if you don't have huge texture packs or optifine installed. :P

To use Sphax texture pack with all of the optifine stuff I had to give minecraft 6GB of my 12 before it ran smoothly

This is the shortcut text I got to use the 64 bit version with more memory:

Code: [Select]
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
Obviously, this javaw.exe is the 64-bit version (the 32-bit can still safely exist in "Program Files (x86)")

And the JAR is not the minecraft.jar from the .minecraft folder, it's actually the "linux version" of the launcher, here: http://www.minecraft.net/download

EDIT: Don't forget that the working directory must point to whatever folder you put the JAR. ("Start in:" in the shortcut)

Well, it's true that I use a 16x texture pack, but I do have optifine installed.

meh, for a while I tried going on a 256X256 photorealism modpack.
it worked, sort of, since I usually didn't explore much...
...
but hell when it started lagging.

I am making a mod pack right now, or well i am installing alot of mods, mainly Terra Firma Craft and i tried adding Mo's creatures too. The only mobs that spawn naturally are turtles and fish, and mantarays. Nothing else, the instaspawner is capable of spawning the animals with no problems. Could someone help me getting Mo's creatures mobs to spawn in a Terra Firma Craft world?

Stop talking about mods here guys. They'll get all angry, even though there's nothing else to talk about.
