Don't you just hate it when your just smelting all your stuff after an insanely lucrative mining expedition on a Multiplayer server, dig a little hole in the ground and place a few Furances to smelt your Minerals, and then someone digs you up and drops gravel on your head to take everything you own? On a non-PVP server?

Because that totally sucks.

On a non-pvp server you could probably report him.
If you saw him.
Anyway, on a good moderated server admins can see who broke the block above you to drop gravel in.

That's why I make a big glass magma-dome in every SMP server I play, with only one specific manner of entry that is expertly hidden behind a labyrinth of magma. If you try to dig into the false outer-walls, you die in a flow of magma. =)

Yep.. stand on top, drop water source, dig directly down. You will never hit magma and unless you actually hit a magma source block you will never hit obsidian either

Good thing you don't have intelligent people on your server who are also griefers.

Then again in my experience most griefers aren't all that intelligent.

I have gotten into pretty much every base I have ever come across, including admin bases. Even massive walls with "no building" restrictions are not immune to entrance. The only way to get a 100% entrance proof base is to have both a "no build" zone and some way to get an unbreakable block (sign protection or admin gifted bedrock), then make a combination lock controlling a lavafall in front of you door.

Have a no-building area extending for at least 32 blocks. Have your door two blocks straight up. Carry a block of dirt with you. Since you're the only one who can build there, and others can't even build a tower and try to jump into it from outside of range, then you're safe. You will need to deal with players trying to rush in when you place a block, but that's when you're on your guard.

Or you could just put two blocks in the doorway and be done with it.

True, which is why I designed an unbreakable door!

The combination lock will control alternating (insert hard to break block here) via pistons. The pistons move the blocks back and forth faster then you can mine away at them. Thus no entry until it is disabled.

I prefer a massive labyrinth with no exit protected by a keypad with no answer. The actual way to get in is to dig out a single grass block in front of the door.

talking of mods, what happened to your heavily modded minecraft adventure thingy?

On hiatus pending 1.2.5 updates as I plan to start a new world. There will be a transition in the storyline and I'll start up again.
