Hitting wisps in caves is a good source of early vis crystals. Later when you get a bow picking off surface and nether ones are possible. I never bothered with the slimes because it seems like a colossal waste of vis.

This is another one of those cases where I have to ask if people are discussing a mod, or some new addition I don't know about.

'course Thaumcraft and runecraft ran into the same problems Industrialcraft and Buildcraft had: I eventually just didn't care much anymore. I start off wanted resources to use these things, but almost all the things you can make are not really worth it. Spend a bunch of resources to make something slightly more convenient with a limited number of uses. Unless you have a grinder for free resources, which I was never too interested in.

The new pick/sword/axe are nice items to have. The goggles are nothing special as far as I can tell. They take a lot of resources to craft and all they do so far is reveal how to get into obelisks without guessing.

I'm enjoying the Thaumic Duplicator, but I always did. I haven't started building up any EE stuff yet in my new world so its handy.

I wanted to use those Buildcraft/Industrialcraft/whatevermassiveoverhaul mods, but sometimes, I can't help but think that most of them add way too much stuff to keep track.

Should I still use those mods anyway?

It can be a little overwhelming at first, but you get the hang of it before too long. The sense of satisfaction when after many hours of toil you have a system created that can will any item you wish into existence is great.

Even though that's usually the point I start a new world
