The real answer is that you must either leave a torch next to the ice block or cover it with something else. That way the ice melts rather then shatter.

It doesn't always break. And by cover it, the simplest way is to place the ice and then place a dirt block over it. Break the ice and you're guaranteed water. It also will not re-freeze.

Yes, but it also has a ton more stuff, like launching TNT and calling lightning at will.

I have a problem with technic pack 5.0.5 for 1.0.0, when its done installing everything and I start it up, it just goes to black after I press "Login".
