Then go to vertical level 10 and branch mine sideways. Or explore one of the caves you have hit on the way down for a "real" adventure.

Or never mine. Only dig when you find minerals, only go down via Caves and Ravines...
Thats how I play, personally can't stand staring at the same wall for 100+ blocks as I mine my own shaft. Thats boring!!! The only time I do that is if I am digging out a base...

Well I gambled on Minecraft getting better (against my rule of: Never get a game with the idea that it will be fixed or completed at a later time) and I lost...

The enchanting, experience levels, brewing, and everything that they're beginning to implement in is really tying together well. I wasn't too crazy about the progress up until this point. This is really fun stuff.

It is still just content padding anyhow without any of the meat.

The game is still just as lean as it was when I first got it.

I have a feeling it will never bulk up.

it contains more of the same, which is not that bad considering that the limited pre 1.8 crafting was getting a bit stale. potion and enchanting are good stuff!

but it misses the adventure maps, the adventure mode, the quests, the traps.. so it's still too much sandbox and too little game.

It is sort of what I say about Minecraft

It isn't that it is bad and that they are avoiding actually improving on the game by meandering about.

It is that I am not someone who Minecraft is being marketed to. The minecraft market are people who would want another color of brick before a new enemy.

In otherwords the people who Minecraft are marketed towards REALLY REALLY would rather have their bricks.

Considering the vast amount of mods, and the vast amounts of downloads they get, I don't think Minecraft is marketed towards anyone, by your definition.

Also you can tell who Minecraft's main audiance is by their updates.
