That's a bug with version 1.0. Log off and retry, eventually it'll work.

Anyone find a mushroom biome yet? I spent at least an hour flying around in Creative mode, and nothing. Gigantic oceans though.

I've got that brown crap, but there's no big mushrooms growing on it, just lots of little brown ones and swamp trees.  Apparently it makes the water a weird color too.

Mushroom biomes are basically where the dirt is basically carpeted in fungus, mushrooms grow to the size of trees, and where the legendary Mooshroom thrives. I've seen plenty of swamps.

Hey, nobody told me swamp biomes were going to be a different color.  I thought the mushroom thing was the only status that changed the ground.  I don't know where people were finding out stuff.

Well, technically pretty much every biome has slightly different colors for water and grass and stuff. It makes the world look more interesting and lively, though the changes are rather abrupt (especially for the water).

Only grass, vines and leaves change with every biome, the dark swamp water is an exception and it looks horrible at the edges.

There were some proper biome water mods for the earlier versions of Minecraft, once they are updated to 1.0 you can use those.
